A bhajan or kirtan is a devotional Indian song, often of ancient origin. Bhajans are often simple songs, in lyrical language expressing emotions of love for the divine. The music is based on ragas (melodic modes) and talas (rhythmic beat patterns), played on traditional Indian instruments like the tabla, sitar and bansuri.
